Yay Ellis!
Hey all,

Saw Ellis on Wednesday night in Des Moines. She was awesome as usual. So personable! I love it! I took some pictures with her and my best friend. It was a great night and she even sung my three favorite songs ( Twisted Roads, All over the Map, Love Song). Her hair is getting longer, but it looks good. That's all for now!

truer words have never been spoken
"you know who should get married? gays and lesbians...thats who should get married. because for gays and lesbians marriage is not about romance, its about equality, and having our relationships regarded in the same way with the same kind of reverence as straight peoples relationships...its about being equal in every possible way. its such an important issue too, we need to recognize that a government that would deny a gay man the right to bridal registry is a facist state!" margaret cho

Looking for friends...
**if off topic, feel free to delete**

Hi. Yes, I'm looking for some mutual LJ friends (friends who will add me back). I was going to go through some of the "addme" communities, but its too complicated to cipher through all the unwanted prospects to get to you the good stuff. So, I'm posting here, because I'm more likely to find someone with similar interests. With that said, I'm including a cut of my interests here.Collapse )

Thought I should do the intro thing.
Well i'm an Australian Ellis fan thanks to a bunch of her music brought to me by friends in the states, didn't get to see her last time I was there but i'll be back next year and hoping to check her out live.
I emailed her once when I was bored ages ago, she emailed me back and seemed cool so much respect and she's gorgeous.
The more talented female musicians we have round the better.

Ellis' website?
How is it that I'm just now finding out about Ellis' website? I've searched and searched for Official/Unofficial sites for ages and the only sites I've found were PeppermintCDs and CDBaby's.

From reading the previous post, Terri's letter made reference to her "site", but I didn't believe it. So, I went back to PeppermintCDs and low-and-behold... a link to Ellis.

It appears this site has been up since at least last December (based on Ellis' journal entries). Did everyone else already know about this???

Could her site be added to this communities' info page, by chance?

Ellis Needs our help!
I received the following email from Terri yesterday and thought I'd post it in here to get some more "hot" ideas to help our favorite artist!
Thanks!

Hi Tara,

So excited to be working with you on this! This is the first official "assignment" in your position as a AAA Rockstar street team member. I'll be your liaison this month since Ellis is still on the road. When she is at home, she'll be the one contacting you, but meanwhile, you'll have to settle for me! :-)

Here is the scoop. This month's activity involves a little brainstorming, creativity, and research. The music industry has been changing RAPIDLY in recent years and the things an artist did 10-20 years ago to "make it" just aren't working in today's cultural, political and economic climate. Instead of trying the old ways (seeking out a record deal, looking for commercial sponsors, selling song copyrights, etc), we want to instead look outside of the mainstream approaches. This is where we need your help. We want you to take some time over the next few weeks, brainstorming about ways to help get the word out about Ellis' music.

I believe that Ellis and her music are seriously something very special (and I know you do, too!) and that people would benefit from getting to hear her. But the trick is getting her music to them. How do we get more folks to listen, to check out the web site, come to shows, etc?

We want any and all ideas that you have. Some ideas I have include:
1) making a two-song sampler and give them away free or sell them for a tiny amount (e.g. $1) to give people a taste of her music
2) asking folks on the mailing list to send an email to 5 friends, asking them if they're familiar with her music, providing a link to her web site, etc.
3) set up a phone hotline, where people can call and hear a new song or a message from ellis that is updated regularly

Ok.... I don't want to give you any more of my ideas because I don't want to crimp your creativity or limit you in any way, but I wanted to give you some idea of what we thought of so far. However, no idea is too crazy, silly, complex, small, or weird. We want your ideas! All of them! Do not hold back. :-)

Please email us your ideas by October 1st at the latest. Then I'll compile them and send them all out to you again, and we'll pick some of the favorites to actually act on.

Thank you SO MUCH for your support of Ellis. You totally rock!

warm wishes,
Terri

ps. On a side note, we are also looking for interns at Rubberneck Records and I have one part-time paid position available, too... if you think you might be interested and have plans to be in the Twin Cities over the next year, please let me know asap!

Hi, my name is Karee. I found this community last night searching for other Ellis fans last night. I'm excited to know there's already a place set up for her fans. My girlfriend and I love going to see Ellis live. She's actually coming to South Bend, IN (close to us) tommorrow night.
Last time we saw her, I got up the nerve to go say "hi" to her and asked her to auto... the cd I'd bought. I got all nervous and red-eared. Maybe this time, I'll be able to get some pictures. :D

WEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Nice to meet you all.

Yay for new live CD!
Hey all! I am got the new live CD in the mail and I am so excited that it finally came! I loved the new CD and it is a must have for all Ellis fans! I have a picture of Ellis and I, but I don't know how to post it... anyone have any ideas?

Whoa! First of all, if you haven't purchased Ellis' new cd "Evidence of Joy" yet, YOU MUST BUY IT NOW! It's awesome! You get a taste of her personality, get to hear her beautiful laugh, and of course her amazing voice!

Second, I had a lovely time with her when she came to Columbus! She asked Gina and I to go to dinner with her before the show..... and despite my silly nervousness, I had a blast! She is so easy to talk to and just full of love. She has such a gift with people and I just love watching her share her gift with strangers.

The show was great, but there were lots of rude lesbians who thought their voice was more important than Ellis'! Gina and I were very annoyed and apologized to Ellis afterwards. Ellis said it wasn't too unusual being she'd never played in Columbus before AND it was a bar. I was still rather disapointed though. Oh well... can't assume EVERYONE will love Ellis as much as we do.... I spose. :)

We're heading to Toledo tomorrow to get ANOTHER Ellis fix. :)
